Do you find it justified or ironic that all states allow guns but ban less than lethal weapons such as tasers?

If you can have a gun in your home for the primary reason of self defense, do you find it ironic that there’s plenty of states that ban less than lethal weapons?

I can understand they have no justifiable use other than protection BUT wouldn’t the same apply to a handgun?

I noticed this myself and really find it stupid. Weapon laws in general are handled very foolishly I think. Very few are based on careful consideration and rationality.

I really hate to say but I think if certain political views got their way, we would not have guns either. The reason they are still legal is because 2nd Amendment is such a deeply ingrained law. Unfortunately, too many courts going back a century have made rulings that the 2nd Amendment does not apply to non-guns, and so bans get passed on ownership and/or carry of less-lethal and non-lethal weapons like batons, blackjacks, martial arts weapons, tasers, pepper-spray and knives (which are tools first, weapons second). And logic in these court rulings isn’t even that compelling when you read them! It more or less says “They don’t count under the right to bear arms…because we said so! So there.”

Weapon laws should be about INTENT, not mere possession. Possession is too broad and overreaching, punishing the innocent (self-defense) with the criminal (assault and murder).
