Police/Proffesional advise for buying stun guns please?

Alright, so I have minor situation with agoraphobia(fear of travel, etc.) But in order to really feel ok and safe with traveling to a place in another state with my boyfriend, I want protection. At first I wanted a taser gun, then read up on it, and saw the prices, so I think a stun gun is more appropriate, especially pricewise.

But I don’t know if I’m buying something legitimate or not.

I have several problems with stun guns. First, you have to make contact, that means no distance. As soon as you lose contact, you lose the effect. That means it only works when you are in direct contact with your attacker. The more distance the better.

Stun guns do not incapacitate someone like a taser would. Stun guns have fixed probes, so they only cause pain at the point of contact. A taser has probes that separate, so it can actually lock up muscles, which gives you time to escape.

The other problem with the stun gun is it only works on one person at a time. It is worthlesss if you have multiple attackers.

Pepper spray is not perfect either, but it does allow you to keep your distance and you can use it on mulitple attackers. That would be my choice if it is legal in your area.
