The fire button and light button are separated on opposite sides which lessons the chance of a misfire.  

What is special about the prongs is that makes the stun actually more effective than a flush mount. The wider the 2 point are the more effective it is. So yes it is technically more effective than it's 2.5 million volt cousin.
