Say no to pepper spray and get a sharp shooter keychain

Can I keep pepper spray in my suitcase when I fly?

It can’t be in a carry-on of course, but I’ve heard you can keep it in your suitcase. However, my situation is different… I’m almost 16, and I still have two years before I can legally possess pepper spray in California (I’ll be flying to New York). Despite this, I carry it in my pocket all the time for protection. I don’t take it out or show it to anyone.

- Can you normally put it in your suitcase as long as it doesn’t go on the plane?

- Will they probably notice it or care, if they see it? It’s small enough to be on a keychain,14 grams.

Thanks in advance… I really don’t feel safe leaving without it.

No, you cannot carry pepper spray on your checked luggage or carry on luggage. The luggage compartment isn’t pressurized and there’s some concern that the spray might explode during the flight and ruin your suitcase. In New York, you or in your case your parents can buy some from a licensed gun shop or pharmacy. So when you land, there’s nothing keeping you from buying one from one of those places. That way, you’re not without protection. Hope this helps.
