What's The Hype About Airsoft Guns by Mike Kasminoff

Does this sound familiar? "Mom! Can I please have an airsoft gun?!" or "Joey has one why can't I?" What a better gift for your kid than an airsoft gun. They even make good gifts for adults. There are a variety of air soft guns from RIS M4A1's to WELL D-90's.

Lets explore the unknown about airsolft guns for a bit. We will touch on many different angles about the airsoft guns and how the operate.

First, Airsoft guns are meant to provide a safer environment for shooting practice. It is as simple as that. Airsoft today is used by Police, Military, private security training, outdoor sports, and more! Airsoft guns have replaced "Paintball Guns" as the preferred method of training for law enforcement and military. One of the many reasons why is because the provide a more realistic feel and look. Also the operation of the gun is the virtually the same. it is better to practice as close to real life as possible.

Many airsoft guns are equipped with tactical gear to replicate the real thing. Such as; Laser sites , Red Dot Scope, tactical flashlights, and more. All of these things could be the reason why this is the biggest craze since paintball guns. In fact my research has shown the popularity has grown over paintball guns. Speaking of paint balls. They have invented plastic bb size paint balls to fit airsoft guns.

These guns can be found in 3 main types. There are straight plastic spring load, Plastic electric rifles, and Metal guns. Plastic spring load guns are considered by most to be a toy gun. Very low cost is involved usually under $20.00 which makes it a throw away gun. Then you have the electric or AEG guns which are considered to be entry level guns and the cost can average between $35-$65.00 per guns. Yet the are still made of plastic and can break easily if not taken care of properly. Finally you have the "Metal" Airsoft gun. The metal guns are considered to be intermediate - professional level guns. The price can range from $80.00 to well over $1,100.00 per gun. The Metal guns are more durable and have the best look and feel over all other airsoft guns out on the market today. The are also modeled in Gas powered and spring loaded. The overall strength of the gun can be significant over the lower end models by being clocked shooting over 400fps!

If your going to consider playing recreational a great or joining a competition I recommend the Metal models. Yes it is more expensive however, you get your monies worth in the long run. Always remember safety force and even through it is an airsoft gun, always treat it like a real loaded gun at all times for safety reasons.
